Spool is a retrograde, past loops slowly unwinding. Insecurities, uncertainties, confusions unwinding. Tension unwinding, you and I unwinding. The state between past and future, the stillness in the unknowing. losing the old self so fast. Thoughts, body, movement, emotions – all gone. What’s new?! Not us – we’re like the Neverlands, nothing past, nothing yet, in Eternal Nature Almighty.
Spool is a multi-disciplinary, collaborative project by artist and perfumer Angel Paradise and musician and producer Florian TM Zeisig. Artworks are interconnected, sensory and tangible experiences that live in direct exchange with nature
From 2020 to 2023 – while both artists were residing in the rural Bavarian alps – artist Angel Paradise studied alpine plant behaviour and their effects, specializing in natural perfumery – developing natural perfumes embracing a holistic approach to scent creation.
During the same period, Zeisig composed new sound work. Held by the mountains and its spirits, Spool was composed as a farewell, an observation of the past, a funeral, a goodbye, a rebirth. Music as a homecoming, soaked in teenage nostalgia, dripping wet mountain drops carried by the haze.
